Prof. Andrei Kolesnikov was born in small town Zaraisk near Moscow, Russia, in 1957. He studied Process Control with applications to Chemical Engineering at Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering during 1974-1979. In 1985 he defended his PhD at the same Institute. Later he worked in the Laboratory of Plasma Processes at Alma-Ata Power Engineering Institute, leading plasma chemistry group. From 1994 until 1999 he worked as Chief Researcher at Atomic Energy Corporation in Pelindaba, South Africa. From 1999 until now he works at Tshwane University of Technology (former Technikon Pretoria), Pretoria, South Africa. His main research interest are: mathematical modelling and simulation of multi-phase high temperature processes, heat and mass transfer in nanoparticle’s systems, non-linear process control with applications to chemical and metallurgical processes.
