Simoné Karels

PHD Student

Miss Simoné Karels is a PhD candidate at the University of the Western Cape under the HySA Systems research group. Miss Karels' research focuses on producing low-cost and high-performing catalysts for the anode electrode, essential in the proton exchange membrane water electrolyser system to produce hydrogen energy. The study is under the supervision of Prof. Sivakumar Pasupathi, director at the South African Institute of Advanced Chemistry (SAIAMC). Miss Karels completed her Master's degree with Magna Cum Laude in 2021 - 2022, Honours degree in 2020, and Undergraduate degree with Cum Laude in 2016 - 2019 at the University of the Western Cape. Miss Karels has authored the following research paper;
